Training: Planning for Effective Public Participation

The City of Kelowna is hosting the first module of IAP2’s Foundations in Public Participation in Kelowna November 4 – 6, 2015. If you are someone just starting out in public participation, or a seasoned veteran, you will find value in this professional development opportunity. This program provides practitioners with the structure, techniques and knowledge required for success in today’s rapidly changing public engagement landscape.

Module 1 – Planning for Effective Public Participation provides you with a proven structure for developing a public participation plan that will fit any size of project.  Participants will learn the importance of defining a project scope, setting clear objectives, delivering a promise to the public, and determining the appropriate level of public participation. In addition, the course will cover how every public participation initiative must be accompanied by a communications strategy and evaluation plan.
