The International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) in B.C. and Yukon is thrilled to invite you to our conversation about public participation and democracy with Shauna Sylvester. At this event with the Executive Director of the Morris J. Wosk Center for Dialogue, we will conduct “A Check on Canada’s Democracy”.
On October 21st, Canadians will make their way to the ballot box in order to elect their new government. However, is the “one-person-one-vote” duty of electoral participation enough to champion democracy? Is Canada immune from the spread of populism witnessed around the world? As we witness age-old democracies around the world being faced with challenging crossroads, join us as we explore what makes for a resilient democracy, what YOU can do to safeguard it, and if increasing public participation can play a part.
