NOTICE OF AGM
Don’t miss this opportunity to join your peers in public participation, to enjoy a bite to eat and a glass of wine or cold beer and learn insights and recent research on community engagement in transit referendums in other cities and states.
Councilor Geoff Meggs will then talk to us about the role of public engagement in raising the bar for traffic improvements. His career includes time as a journalist, a communications director in the offices of former Premier Glen Clark and former Vancouver mayor Larry Campbell, an executive director of the BC Federation of Labour, and President of Tideline Communications. Since his election in 2008 and 2011, Geoff has worked on a number of difficult and high profile issues, including the city’s delivery of successful Winter Olympic Games, the refinancing of the Olympic Village, the implementation of a region-wide U-Pass and the expansion of cycling infrastructure. In 2011 he was appointed as a Vancouver director on the Metro Vancouver board, where he serves on the housing and transportation committees.

The business meeting was followed by an entertaining and insightful talk by Geoff Meggs on the role of public engagement in raising the bar on traffic improvements. Geoff drew on inspiration from many aspects of his career including working as a journalist, a communications director in the offices of former Premier Glen Clark and former Vancouver mayor Larry Campbell, an executive director of the BC Federation of Labour, and President of Tideline Communications. Geoff referenced many of the difficult and high profile issues that he has been involved in since his election, including the city’s delivery of successful Winter Olympic Games, the refinancing of the Olympic Village, the implementation of a region-wide U-Pass and the expansion of cycling infrastructure.
The work of IAP2 BC would not be possible without the volunteer efforts of our members on the Executive Committee and through the generous donation of meeting and event space by members.
Thank you to Stantec for the use of their offices for the AGM and to Drew Ferrari for your exceptional organizational expertise from signage to hosting the wine and beer social!
